I'm an experienced classroom teacher, having taught in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. I've also been head of department in both state and private schools. I've been tutoring privately for 10 years and have had the privilege of sharing the education journey of many students.
Maths and English are my subjects. I love to tutor both subjects at all levels. But my focus is all about helping, supporting and nurturing those students who say they're not good enough, they don't understand it and can't do it.
To them I say, TOGETHER you are good enough, you can understand it and you will do it!
Traditionally, I've taught from my Edshed, welcoming students to face to face tutor sessions. However, during the lockdowns and periods of school closure, we all migrated online. I was really excited to host a very special free workshop for all my students in years 10 and 11.
The last two academic years have seen their education severely disrupted.
Tests, exams and school work are all tough at the best of times but with changes, uncertainties and the constant threat of Covid, they are even more of a challenge than ever.
So as a massive extra benefit for my students and to mark
#mentalhealthday
I teamed up with Anna, a fantastic local mindfulness and wellbeing coach.
We explained how the brain works under pressure and presented extraordinary and powerfully effective strategies to help cope with exam stress, anxiety and fears in the build up to mocks, revision and GCSEs.
